Sakha Ek Pehel is a women-led nonprofit initiative dedicated to empowering underprivileged women through the timeless art of crochet and knitting. Based in Nithari village, Noida, Sakha is on a mission to turn traditional handcraft into a source of dignified livelihood, self-worth, and social change.
We work with over 80 women artisans, many of whom had never imagined they could earn an income, develop a skill, or find a supportive community. Through free training, consistent mentorship, and income opportunities, we help them become financially independent while creating beautiful, handcrafted products like baby clothes, accessories, home décor, toys, and more.
At the heart of Sakha lies the belief that empowerment begins with empathy. That’s why we also support a shelter for 180+ stray dogs, providing them with food and medical care. Our work stands for coexistence, where both humans and animals are cared for with love and respect.
Now, with support from companies like KnitPro, Ganga Acrowools Ltd. And Infosys Limited ,Sakha is preparing to launch India’s first free crochet and knitting school for underprivileged women-an innovative step toward large-scale skill development threads of resilience, compassion, and community.
Sakha Ek Pehel is a women-led initiative that empowers underprivileged women through skill development and handmade crafts. It provides a platform for them to create beautiful, meaningful products like crochet rakhis and hampers. Each item is crafted with love, purpose, and pride.
